By the way, if I were doing a TED talk on honesty and marital satisfaction, here would be my opener (you MUST be counterintuitive):
"Common opinion is that the more truthful and open a relationship, the higher marital satisfaction the couple will have. I would posit there is one key skill to keeping a marriage happy: lying. I'm Associate Dean Bryan M. Roberts and today we will talk about deception and a happy marriage."
