I just read about you on FB. Still toying with how to come out completely about my PD. But reading about you has given me food for thought.
Thank you so much

Thanks, M---if there is anything you need, please let me know. Life became exponentially less stressful once people knew.

Hi Bryan
I took your advice and you were so right, the feeling of informing people is liberating. I made the announcement via FB and the response has been nothing but positive. My message was:
Three years ago I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Eighteen months ago I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. My family, close friends and some work colleagues have known for some time.
As I am a private person, deciding to let people know about these conditions has not been an easy one for me to reach. Over the weekend I realised that I was trying to control who knew and didn't know about my health. Ultimately, this meant the conditions are controlling me. I emailed someone in New York and they advised me that when I finally let people know life will become “exponentially less stressful”. This is something I need and want.
I am not trying to elicit sympathy etc, (far from it) I just want people to know. I don’t know what the future will bring (who does?), but I am more than aware that this would need to have been done at some stage. I have decided to make this announcement now.
I would like to thank Olivia and Tom, my brother Tom and his family, my cousins and all the others who have known for their support and kindness. I would also like to thank the one person who has put up with me ranting and howling at the moon for hours. They know who they are and I can’t thank them enough.
Thank you for your wonderful advice.
